CODE FRIDAY: Drive Drunk Model Home, Please.

Friday, September 30, 2011

It is officially my second week after giving up the freelance lux-life to work in an Italian supercar office!
(Haven't heard? Tweet up with me will ya!)

And thus, my weekends have more meaning than just having more people to play with me and party! :))
Speaking of parties, tonight I'll be plonking my healthy tush down at Netherland KL for the PERNOD RICARD MALAYSIA event :)

So, I do go to every Tom, Dick and Fabulous Harry's party in KL, almost indefinitely.

Harpers Bazaar Cover on the 2011 Tiffany&Co F1 Event
(With Me and Michiekins at the bottom left!)

And I do like me my alcohol, indefinitely.

Click to see pics from Merc 2011 Party.

However, keep in mind I do not drive and I do not get into the car of someone who is drunk either.

PERNOD RICARD'S 'Code Friday'event aims to promote just that with their global stance to promote 5 I-can't-believe-you-aren't-doing-this-already

* Advocating Moderation
* Avoiding Drink-Driving
* Making Young-People aware of the risks linked to alcohol
* Dissuading Pregnant women from drinking
* Making Staff aware of their responsibility

Sounds boring?
Well, not dying because of drinking tends to be, but be good kids and let me get you the down and Martini dirty at tonight's event to see if it's more simple than the police asking you to walk in a straight line.

So, “Be In Control. If You Drink Don’t Drive.”
Or you could just be totally tipsy like me and have someone sober drive you home.
Any volunteers? ;))))

Life after Rock Bottom

Expecting perky pictures with speech bubbles and coy sexual innuendos?
Or a peek into my love life or better yet my blouse?

You're out of luck Pillowtalkers,
call me an old fashioned but today I am going to gore you with actual W-O-R-D-S.
Click to the next post button or brace yourselves.
Either way, you've been warned.
Not many people can stomach sashimi raw Honesty.

I don't know when it happened, exactly, but it did. Feels like just yesterday that everything felt so intrinsically painful in it's imperfection, back when I hated waking up almost as much as I hated people who wore socks with slippers (And I hate that more than 90's Boy Bands, so totally, like, yeah.) Regressing, I can't properly pin point the moment it changed because I feels like I just blinked and when I opened my eyes it got, for lack of a better word.....better. For those of you who have followed me for years on older blogs or famed Facebook notes, you would have seen the shadows of the black sheep, the Soulmate, the depersonalization, the stress induced schizophrenia and the swallowing of every anxiety medication they prescribe to people when they don't really know what is wrong. I fell so deep that somehow to survive I came to terms with Depth and my past lives feels like movies I watched ages ago. And, I don't know if I should be happy the storm has passed or a little sad I didn't get to go outside in the drizzle.

Now this is going to get un-religious.

I'm a born and raised ATHEIST with every little bit of Chinese superstition sprinkled on top. Reading up on psychology and sociology now, it seems comforting to see that being born into the Belief of Coincidence tends to lead individuals down dustier paths to come to terms with their existence. I have somewhat, and accept every belief as part of an umbrella of directional goodness but no, I did not adopt a religion. Even if you are religious, you can surely understand how someone not born into it cannot simply grasp something someone they never met said. We all need to grasp sometimes, so instead of a organized religion, I held on to self subjected experiences that I can deduct on my own in my own time. If finding faith frees you, I never had the struggle because I wan born shackled to self explanation. (And none of that is said with any conceivable offence. So, if you are offended just because I am vaguely talking about something as 'sensitive as religion', then I'm not being judgemental when I say you are being small minded. I don't go on attack when someone assumes the 'fate of my soul' or the demerits of my faithlessness. I'm AGNOSTIC so go hate on some Atheist who openly thinks 'God' is a good as Santa Clause. I do NOT, so leave me be to my personal revelations.) So anyhow, I think the darkest pits was where I would have wound up eventually no matter which bad decisions I baked of left as batter. But, from there I had the opportunity to slowly mould myself the person I had yet to know I wanted to be.

While I was not asking for the world to bend over backwards or do anything really,
I was asking myself, 'Have you had enough?'
Guesss that explains the fame of 'Eat, Pray, Love', the book then the blockbuster movie, because only from nothing can you stand a chance to become everything you never dreamed of.
And here I am, World :)
Self made from scratch and every bit acceptable to myself and that is all that matters to me anyway.
So aside from writing this to let loose some of the honesty afforded to people I actually know,
I want you to know that if you are feeling a little hopeful reading about some strangers Happiness, you too could get it good someday. You may need to fall so deep that everything starts to looks good but hey, to each his own.
My own is a bottomless pit I've learnt to call Home and redecorated with the sarcasm that comes with deliberate acceptance and refurnished with a little of the high life I was willing to work smart and suffer for.
You can visit sometime if you meet me in person.
Just ask, 'How's life in rock bottom, Love?'
And I promise to tell you nothing but the truth.

Hope you are still bracing yourself cause this may just be the humble stepping stone to a habit of Honesty here.
But I can go bribe you with pictures to keep you coming, right?

The Secret Shot.

Thursday, September 22, 2011

My most shared not so secret beauty tip is simple;
Develop healthier habits that ere EASY to keep!

And as most of you Pillowtalkers already know, I am a huge fan of juicing.

So much so, I did a 3 day fruit fast and can't rave more about the benefits.

And now out of habit, I take fresh juice for a pick me up daily.

Think a glass of vitamins, healthy enzymes and antioxidants!

However, I have started a full time job this week and the idea of bringing a juicer to work may not be the best way to blend in (Pun super intended)
And I do not drink bottled juices nor do I think pre-making my juice as it may lose some of the goodness.

So, while looking for solutions I stumbled on a health secret I can't believe I never heard of till now.

It is 20 times more potent than Vitamin C
and packs a punch 50 times more than Vitamin E!

Let me introduce you to....

Oligomeric Proanthocyanidins!

Ok, that is harder to say than 'She sells sea shells by the seashore' so let us call this class of flavanoid complexes

Found in grape and pine bark after 30 years of research, this power antioxidant also has anti ageing properties as it neutralizes free radical and prevents your collagen and elastin from degrading, which happens as we age.

I pound has to be extracted from 1000 pounds of grape seed so that is probably why it is not a commercially known health ingredient. Until now, that is......

I am trying it out and will tell you how it goes ;)
Till then check it out here at INNERSHINE.COM.MY

The secret shot is coming soon...

Where I met my hair soulmates: THE MET, KL.

Wednesday, September 14, 2011

I've been in a blond (undertone) phase for almost 2 years now, to make up in visibility what I lacked in hair length.
And I promised myself to go darker as my hair grew longer to have a more chiseled and classic look.

So before Raya 2011, I did.

A BEFORE shot by Michael Yip in June
And a recent AFTER shot by Aliaskhal.

And I'd leave my tresses to no less than the best. Lucky for me I was introduced by Cleo Covergirl Winner Mei Sze to......

.....a New York inspired salon in Malaysia, THE MET, KL!
Placed right across Sungai Wang at the entrance of Park Royal Hotel, it was an easy find.

Maybe for me anyway, one who is attracted to bright, shiny objects ;p
It is REDKEN County y'all!

Forget their huge range of Redken products, they have Professional Haircolorist certified by Redken 5th Ave, New York!
So no surprise that The Met is well known for managing celebrity cuts and colors in KL.

So coming in psyched by their professional repertoire,
I waited while filling my chick mag munchies....

...and was almost ready to take a plunge for Olivia Wilde worthy bangs as she rocks it with her strong jawline...

...However, I will listen to Alex, The Met's Senior Style Expert, when he said that I shouldn't :(

Teng, The Met's Hue Master, decided that my desire for darker locks would suit my personality better if it stood out more and told me to trust her to give me........OLIVE highlights?

Like, that thingie they put in James Bond's shaken not stirred?

I said I'm not sure, she said trust her and I guess I was too polite to say,'OMG R U SRIIUS'
Plus being one of the five certified color technicians in the whole country, who was I to question her :)

Shortly after, the process began!

A cuts a cut right?
Not with award winning Senior Style Expert Alex it ain't.
It took twice as long and every cut he made was meant to serve my hair tips better..

He gave me a 'transient length' cut and with his history with Toni and Guy, known for their easily maintainable cuts, I felt happy to know I can keep the look after I go all hobo at home.

And you know you love a stylist when he says
'Sorry if it takes longer than you are used to, I just really love what I do.'

AWWWWW :)))))

The Hue Master, Teng,  then stepped in to start the lightening for selected highlight areas!
Was eager to see what I'd get...

...and felt so 'JENG' or shockingly stand-out after.
Oh well, it is just Phase 1.

Next up Redken Extreme Cat Conditioning...

..Before Phase 2 of toning and hair dye begins!

Teng told me Malaysia just got Redken's latest home care product range and she'd be trying it on me
(It is so new even she has yet to use it!).

It's called Redken Nature Rescue and is meant to detoxify your hair.

Sign me up please for my first scrub!?

Super refreshing and my scalp didn't feel itchy or smell as bad after the usual dye.
The product smelled almost tea like with a hint of ocean freshness.
I'm a fan and can't wait to get the whole set :)

*saving, saving*

And after 4 hours

I got to step out feeling like somebody should ask for my number.

And before I left, guess who I saw?

Hi fellow MHB member Chammaine Tan!
We are board buddies at The Met now :))

Last shot with my hair magicians, erm I meant, technicians Alex and Teng!

Thanks so much for your dedication to my hair :)))

Morning After Shots!
I'm decked out in cool matte brown tones, just in time for Autumn trends.

Lovin' the cut as my hair looks THICKER and it is so easy to style!
I'm also liking the discreet olive highlights.

It gives my usually solid colored hair new dimensions.

And who doesn't love hair that so few people would contemplate?
ME ;)

Thanks so much to Alex and Teng from THE MET (FB).
Go to their page for price range and info! :)
