Brie's 3 Day JUICE Detox: The How and RESULTS.

Tuesday, April 05, 2011

This is a continuation of Brie's 3 Day JUICE Detox: The Why and What. (Read it up!)
And here is how I did it and the results I saw during and after 3 days.

How I did it.

I wasn't a feeble, whiny party pooper on my 3 day detox as I don't do feeble, whiny party pooper ;)
And you don't have to be either! But like me, you should

1) Do your Due Diligence.

I fully read up about juicing, the properties of fruits to be used and what to expect while on a detox.
The more prepared you are the less likely you are to be thrown off course when faced with migraines, light cramps and light headedness thats caused by your body detoxifying itself (Think of smokers getting 'flu' when they stop smoking. It's their body withdrawing from an addictive substance.)
All of these symptoms came and passed but that only happens when your resolve is strong.

I also researched on the mental preparation I needed i.e proper motivation and a list of light activity to keep me occupied instead of obsessing about food. I read juice fast blogs when unmotivated ( I like Freedomyou Fasting and Juicefasting.Org ) and kept busy with spring cleaning the condo and my computer in between meetings.

I drank papaya juice because of it's high levels of Vitamin C and also it's smoothie like texture when blended thus more filling!

2) Plan Ahead.

I bought all my fruits ahead of time and made sure I was going to have 3 days of light activity such as meetings to conserve energy. Though I did go out, all my friends already knew what I was doing and we went to places like Alexis and La Bodega which have fresh juices. They even ate my favourite foods in front of me (Meatball papardelle) and offered it to me (BOO!)
But still, I sipped my juice with a smile because I already told myself I will say 'No, TQ Love'.

Mental planning is vital and remember discipline is a muscle you can choose to exercise :)

3) Keep Energy Levels Up!

I made sure I was drinking juice each time I felt a pang of hunger.
You don't have to follow mine as to each their own but make sure you don't starve yourself! That's the worst thing to do. Just drink your cup of goodness and DON'T lie around all day. Go for a walk and do some yoga breathing to keep you focused. Don't fixate about food all depress yourself.
Fixate on how great you are going to feel after 3 days and do your research on how to break your fast properly.

RESULTS

Starting Weight: 51.8kg.

Day 1 - After my lack of coffee migraine passed in the evening, I felt a sense on calm.
Day 2 - Woke up with glowing skin and wen't though the day feeling lighter. No migraine.
Day 3 - Had the flattest tummy in years from the lack of bloat from constant food.

That's crazy!! I never thought I could go below 50kg even!
Truthfully, I wasn't expecting to lose weight because I was getting sufficient calories from juice.
But the lack of fat and salt had an impact! I felt....so sleek.
Imagine what your body would be without any water retention. At all. My hipbones were more noticable and my thighs have that inner line. And after breaking my fast I'm still maintaining a weight of 50kg so that's a definite 1kg loss. But keep in mind I didn't do a revenge binge after as it would be a waste of all my effort :)

Definitely going to do it again and maybe for a week! Hope all of you curious of juicing found this helpful!
