AD: New Glasses Hunt@Malaya Optical (Pt2)

On the 8th of January, I managed to score a date with these 2 stylish blokes.

Me with pro eye wear stylist and designer to the celebrities, Ryan Ho, and his adorable dad, Mr.Ho!

(The bowtie is his trademark. SUPER♥ !)

I got to meet them during a relaunch of the MALAYA OPTICAL at Damansara Uptown where I was hunting for new statement glasses!

Needless to say, it was a bustling day at the Petaling Jaya flagship store.

And it was like this from early morning!
Celebrities like Amber Chia graced the event pre-MHB (Malaysia's Hottest Bloggers).

Guess everyone who's anyone would need a place to hit up the moment their eyes are in need of a look up and considering MALAYA OPTICAL carries a battalion of designer eyewear brands thus they top the list!

Being shown around by a really enthusiastic Malaya Optical staff, Aniz.
He did all the displays here too!

(Left to Right: W.U.M.F⇔L.T.H.420, Whiteout&Glare, Coppe+Sid)

I was very impressed :)
Always good to see people who take pride in their jobs.

Anyhow, while waiting for the other MHB girls to arrive, I canoodled about the store trying on like Everything.

Scouting for statement glasses is hard when there are so many fashion statements to be made!
Consideration at hand: Retro :))

Anyhow, Ryan gave us an introductory talk on how MALAYA OPTICAL isn't just a 'glasses shop' but an Eye Experience Boutique!

Bloggers listening in to the comprehensive performance enhancing eye examination and screening available at their outlets. They not only are able to do the basic things like check your eye power but can also check for glaucoma and eye degeneration caused by age/diabetes etc.

I so need to get mine checked, as I haven't had a proper check in years :(

And after all the serious talk we were back to fun with a group shot for the MHB girls!
Thanks Ryan :)

Every one of us were given an 'Awards' slip for Eye Enlightenment, I suppose. Hehe.
Now back to statement glasses hunting!

So many brands, so little time!!
From Wolfgang to Moschino, the options are limitless!
Here were a few I that stood out to me.

1. French eyewear brand, Lafont.
Recognizable from their riveted hinges and Paddle Pop variety of colors to pick from!

Perfect for the quirky professionals.
Looks way better on smart cookie Mei Sze than on me though :(

2. Parasite Eyewear.
Known for their futuristic yet functional pieces and their trademark bridge for their prescription glasses.
Geeks out there, I approve ;)

3. Italian eyewear brand, Derapage.

This is one from their Turnado series which has a patented un-welded multilayer frame and is known for it's lightness and indestructibility. Man, I can't believe I'm talking about glasses!

But still, one brand stole my heart...

..with their super statement pieces I've been seaching all over KL for..

4. Italian brand, Coppe+Sid!!

I was totally bummed when I found out I just missed Mr.Gualtiero Coppe himself by mere hours as he also attended the MAYALA OPTICAL event :((((((((((((((((((((((

I'm a huge fan of their cosmopolitan inspired series, you see.

Each one is made after a major city like New York, Tokyo, Paris and even Milan!

And my final bet is on Coppe+Sid Taiwan!

The perfect Italian handmade fashion statement that's originality lies in its subtle details.
I had to reschedule an eye appointment with Ryan Ho because the outlet was mad busy with people wanting to get a professional opinion on their eyes and also a consultation on what would suit their face best.
I CAN'T WAIT! :)

Start your own eye experience by making an appointment at 03-7728 0228
Aniz booking my one of the only two pieces available.
Was so happy I forgave him for spelling my name wrong :)

Check out more pics from my New Glasses Hunt at Malaya Optical (Pt1).

And 'Like' MALAYA OPTICAL'S Fanpage to keep updated with their latest promo's and eyewear collections!
Happy Eye Enlightenment Monday Pillowtalkers!

Where I Get my Iphone Ringtones from.

Wednesday, January 19, 2011

So I don't solely use Mac items and get so constipated with Apple I have to tell the rest of the world anything but Mac doesn't make sense.
But i do use an Iphone 4.

And because a lot of people have asked me where I get my ringtones/alarm sounds from, I am sharing the love, FREE love, here.

I use Audiko.

Q- How simple is it?

A- So simple even I can do it. Seriously.

You can upload your own music (not recommended in Malaysia unless you have highspeed broadband ala Unifi) and crop to the part you'd like to have or just browse their massive database of ringtones before saving then dropping the file into your itunes for synching under the Ringtones section.

Certified Brie-friendly thus can be done by a 7 year old or cat (:

So check it out!

My fav ringtones at the mo are Super Mario Brothers theme and Duck Sauce's 'Barbara Streisand' :)

AMAE 2010: Catwalking, Commentating and Counting Down!

Monday, January 17, 2011

New Years Eve 2010 came but there was no dining and wining for me.

I was to be catwalking and commentating for Astro Arena on the 2nd day of the first "All Martial Arts Exhibition" (AMAE) in line with a live kickboxing match at the Telekomuzium, Kuala Lumpur! :)

Press Release for the media on the event.

So, backstage with the other models from 4pm, we we're getting dolled up for KEY NG's special sportwear inspired runway!

Ms Stefanie Chua looking the most dressed up I've ever seen for pre-show show up.

And Sarah Yap getting her hair done by head hairstylist of Lence Academy.
It was very couture to me but the boys said we looked like poodles.

Shot of the Telekomuzium arena an hour before the event.

I couldn't recognize the usually drab concrete courtyard!

At 8 the place started to fill up and the area was humming with anticipation...

...but backstage it was bustling with last minute dressing and touch ups!

Check out Cassandra who still got time for her BB! Hehe. I too was stuck to my Iphone till standby :P
Internet addicts for sure babe!

*high five*

Sarah and I take our signature shoe shots :)

But not till you see the outfits!

(From Left: Amber Chia, Tengku Azura, Sarah Yap, Key Ng, Cassandra Patrick, Brigette Liberty, Nadine Ann Thomas and Kelly Jagan.)

Think Thanuja, Stephanie and Elle Eu were doing touch ups! :(

Anyhow, my hairstyle was different because after the show I had 7 minutes to run off to do this.

Milk the model!

Yes, I had to run off to the commentator box to do the English commentory during the Muay Thai match for Astro Arena, Channel 801, re-runs.

We had all we needed; Live match on a tv screen, recording equipment and water!

Fellow commentator, Raj Aria, getting into the nitty gritty of Muay Thai technique or otherwise known as Tomoi in Malaysia.

A shot of the recognizable voice, Jay Sheldon, as the ring host.

Now he really got the crowd going!

Raj and I having a blast watching the fight get interesting!
PAID TO WATCH TV/TALK? OH YEA! :))))

Shot from the commentary box of Arthur Tan and Sazzy Falak, the hosts for the event.

Can barely tell she's packing twins in that gorgeous dress.

She didn't buy it whne i told her though :)

So while they man the crowd, Jay, Raj and I sneak a shot so I can show off Key Ng's dress!

Then back to work!

There were 5 rounds per match and 5 matches!

Told the crowd although well read, I was no expert on the sport.

But what I did know was that I loved watching two topless men throw it out old school style ;)

Don't have shots of the match as I was working :(

Anyhow, after the event I went to say hi to Dimple and his friends.

Thanks for coming Jeryl, Marie and Jix!

Glad you guys enjoyed the Muay Thai match.

The ring was empty by then so everyone was climbing in to camwhore :)

I was no exception :)

But Arthur and Jeryl did a better job in the ring though ;p

Still....my opinion is biased :)

The sponsored booze was upstairs so we headed up for drinks before we hit up all the New Year Countdown parties!

Ending the event and starting the nights with shots!

Arthur! A tad tired too, huh? :)

Went to Changkat to countdown and then to a private Gardens Suite Party after.
Hope everyone had a good New Years, working or not.

XOXO Pillowtalkers!

Will update with more official pics when I get em.

I got lucky.. (Pt2)

Thursday, January 13, 2011

...at Zara and Topshop in KLCC on Saturday while shopping!
What were u thinking... ;)

Got 2 new pairs for my shoe collection/hoarding/sickness.

And on Sale! Yummeh! :)

My new non-halal Zara baby!
Been searching for a year to find the perfect camel colored leather number.
Good things come to those can't wait and scour diligently :)

And my Topshop chiffon clicks.

Classic black pumps can bring you anywhere,
but the right black number will bring you Somewhere.
Or so I tell myself as I paid for my 10th pair of black heels :))

I definitely got lucky with these two because of the good/totally justifiable discounts.
My last shoe post like this was back in 2009! Click for 'I got lucky today (Pt1)'
Guess I haven't posted since then coz I haven't bought shoes on Sale since then.

Hard to get lucky in Kuala Lumpur, no Pillowtalkers? ;)

Shoot : The Kins Original Collection.

Wednesday, January 12, 2011

The shoot was done in Ecoba by fashionista/blogshop owner of The Kins, Michelle Ooi.

Michie in action.

With legs like that who wouldn't model for her own collection? ;p

The collection was retro inspired with a lot of Audrey Hepburn worthy dresses and loose flowy bohemian tops!

Michiekins and I all dolled up!
So happy you launched your self designed collection babe:)

Then I began candidly canoodling around waiting for the shoot to start.

A models got to be able to tally up with the photog's vision.
Thus me constantly running to check the shots so I can compensate for the next set :)

Back inside the lounge area...

...clothes were strewn everywhere and not forgetting Michie trademark props.

Actress Lavin Seow behind the scenes.

..and Lina Ooi from behind, also behind the scenes ;)

Lina and my bestie John who played prop holder much to our delight! :)

Until we had to hoard all of them for a group shot!
Was so worried I'd break her vintage suitcase by sitting on it.
Anyhow, here are some of the pics from the shoot!
